Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between a night nurse, NCS, night nanny and night doula?

Most of the time, people are referring to the same thing with each of these titles. They are professionals who care of infants through the nighttime hours. Doulas and newborn care specialists have had additional training that a nanny might not have had.

A night nurse is an older name for a night nanny. This term is no longer used unless that individual is a registered nurse.

  • Do you stay awake throughout the whole night shift?

If the baby is sleeping on a safe surface, the doula has the option to also rest. The doula will stay in the same room and in close proximity to the baby, responding quickly and efficiently. Awake Care can be discussed for an additional fee.

  • When should I book postpartum services?

As soon as possible.  It is best to not wait until baby arrives because we might not have any availibility by that time.
